A loft conversion can often provide space for at least one bedroom and en-suite facilities, while a garage conversion can be a cost-effective alternative to building a new side extension, especially if transformed in line with building regulations (which can include creating a ground-floor bedroom).
Many conversions can be achieved within permitted development guidelines, although planning permission may be required for particular features – such as front-facing dormers, balconies or new materials, such as render or timber cladding.
